IT’S FRIDAY! Even though some of you are excited it’s Friday, I’m not. Jk! I love Fridays but I have one more week left before school starts and this year I’m not ready for summer to end. As a teacher it’s interesting because you can relate to your students. It just shows that even as you get older those “back to school” feelings if you have to go back to school (whether its as a student, teacher, or parent) never go away.
Enough of that! This post is about ruffles. I’m not a huge ruffle fan but it is slowly starting to grow on me. Seeing ruffles make the transition through the seasons is intriguing. Its not just on off the shoulder tops and dresses. It is now on sweaters and skirts for fall. I like the way ruffles are being styled this fall more than this past summer, but there is always that one shirt that can help you change your mind. I just haven’t found it yet. 😉
Are you loving ruffles for fall?

You know how you drive past places all the time and you never think twice about some. Well this past weekend I decided to drop into the little cafe that I didn’t even know was a cafe. What initially caught my attention when I stopped to look at the cafe was that it would be a great background for an outfit that I had planned. Then as I was thinking about the name later in the day I googled it. Turns out it is a super cute cafe that offers breakfast, lunch, pastries/ desserts, and drinks. Who knew?! . . . Probably many just not me. Anyways, I want to encourage everyone today to discover a new place! Stop by the store, restaurant, or boutique that you always drive by and you may be pleasantly surprised!
This post is short and sweet today but don’t worry I will definitely be going back to try out some of those pastries. 😉
It was my husband’s 30th birthday this weekend! The weather was perfect, in the low to mid 70s, a little break from the 80s and the perfect weekend for a birthday. Happy Birthday Nick!
See you Wednesday

Nude has become so popular the last three years. You now have the option to buy almost anything in this shade. Why? Because nude looks great on everyone! This color comes in a variety of shades, can be worn with many shades, and its nude so you know there is a shade out there that looks great with your skin tone. 😉 Its pretty much guaranteed.
It can be tricky to wear nude and not look washed out. There are two things to keep in mind when picking out the shade of nude for you.
Your skin tone/color – Now just because it may be the closet shade to your skin color doesn’t mean that it is the color for you. Usually by picking the shade closet to your natural shade it may look washed out. You want to pick colors and tones that compliment your tone/color.
A general “rule” to follow here is that if you are of fair skin you may want to chose a tone/color that is light or ashy. If you have a medium/olive/yellow skin tone you want to pick shades that have some warmth. If you have a deep skin tone/color you can pick shades that have warm bronze/browns. *This is all just a “general guide” obviously if you see something in person that you fall in love with, girl buy it!
What other colors to wear – Nude is a neutral. It can be worn with almost anything. However, if you want it to look its best and not just like another neutral, keeping in mind the other colors that you’re wearing can make any shade of nude really pop. I like to wear nudes with black, white, and grey to really make it stand out.
What ways do you like to walk around in the nude?
See you soon!

So if you were like myself and many others this summer you saw these printed pants and the matching kimono on the likes of Kourtney Kardashian, Lala Anthony, and Eudoxiee. As well as many other big names. However, once we all found out that this gorgeous look was from Zara we all raced to the nearest one to simply find out that there were very few left (usually not in your size *insert side eye) or sold out already. I had pretty much moved on and looked for similar prints to wear instead. But then when I least expected it, THERE THEY WERE!
I was shopping the end of summer sale at Zara and it was pretty much over and I had no plans of buying anything I was just shopping with a friend. I almost bumped into the end of a rack. I looked down and there they were “the pants“. So of course, I had to buy them. There was only one pair, they were my size, and the best part was they were only $20! It was a sign that they were meant to be mine, right?! Well I took it as one and I bought them and I love them!
Did you stumble upon any great finds this summer?
See you Friday!

Today we are talking about the shirt dress. This dress has been my favorite type of dress to wear for years. The summer time is the best time to wear them because even though they are structured most of them are light weight. It is one item of clothing that you can just throw on and maybe have to iron on occasion. Recently, I have seen them paired with lace up sandals or gladiator sandals and I just absolutely love when they’re worn together. I decided on this day to wear this white one paired with an orangey-red matte lipstick and my favorite sunglasses of the summer.
Figuring out how to wear a shirt dress can be tricky. Sometimes they may look or feel square at the top, overwhelming on a smaller frame, or boring. I have a few tips on how to make it your own.
Add Your Favorite Accessories – The fun part about this is that it can be customized based on your personal style. You can add accessories, such as a floral neck scarf, jewelry of any size, or your favorite sunglasses.
Change your shoes or jacket – If you are starting with a shirt dress that is a blank slate i.e.like the dress pictured above then you have a world of options to choose from. Pieces such as shoes or a jacket can really shape your image. If I were to pair this dress with a Moto jacket and ankle boots *Insert heart eyes it would look completely different than if I wore a floral neck scarf and flats.
Wear a belt – I think the most common way to add shape to your shirt dress is to simply add a belt. I think this is an addition to the shirt dress that many have mastered at this point. Because to be honest who doesn’t want to add emphasis to the smallest part of their body and show it off ?! 😉

Happy Friday! For some of you the end of the week is finally here but for me being a teacher I am still on summer vacation. Although I am getting a week closer to being back in school I chose not to think those kind of thoughts. Ignorance is bliss, right? On another note the look for this Friday is khaki and white. I don’t think I truly understood the difference between khaki and olive until a purchased this shirt. Khaki has been a term that has been floating around for a few seasons now about a color that some people would’ve considered to be olive, including myself. But I have finally figured it out. I know, I know a little late for some but here it is.
Khaki (green) is a color between khaki (tan) and olive. It can be used as a neutral just as olive and khaki can be used as neutrals too. Personally, I used to save olive for fall and winter, and then wear khaki in spring and summer. However, I believe that you can wear both of these shades any time of the year and they look great. Especially with white.
I loved pairing this khaki shirt with distressed white denim. In summer white can be used as a base color to give any other color you’re wearing the push it needs to stand out in an outfit. I wore a nude belt and heels as the accent color for this look. I personally think the combination of these colors together is so pretty. Speaking of pretty, how beautiful are those Tardiva Hydrangea in the background?!
What is your favorite summer neutral?
See you Monday!

You can never have too many nude lip stick, stains, or glosses. The moment I go through mine, clean them out, say I don’t need anymore; is the exact moment I discover another one that I just have to HAVE. The new one is creamier, just the right shade, last all day, and I convince myself and others around me that I just need it. Lately, I’ve been more selective about what I’m choosing to bring home. I have not one regret about the Bobbi Brown Nude Lip Trio that is currently on sale in the annual Nordstom Anniversary Sale.
This set comes with an art stick liquid lip, a lip pencil, and a lip color. It states that it is creamy, last up to eight hours, is semi- matte, and can be combined together for even longer lasting wear. If you are one of those people who isn’t completely sold on the matte lip but still likes the look, this kit would be perfect for you because it is a semi matte finish.
I love this kit because like the title says it looks like my own lips but with a little something extra. It feels moisturizing, which is so necessary. When I put the combination of all three products to the brunch test the color lasted the entire time and a few hours after. This color can be worn all year round. Making this a great investment!
If you ventured out to the Nordstrom anniversary sale what were some staple pieces that you picked out?
